Easter

Wade was pretty excited about his first Easter basket...I was excited for the chocolate. And Phil found all of the eggs the Easter Bunny hid!

Air and Space

Someone made fun of us for reviewing entertainment items on this blog, so I think we're going to give up and have every post just be about Wade. Unless there is some significant event worth mentioning, I suppose.

Wade made a trip up to the National Air and Space Museum because he wanted to see the 3-D movie about the Space Center they have there. Unfortunately, he was ready for a nap by the time the show got started. He had to settle for a picnic out in front of the Washington Monument. It's his favorite monument so far, that's what he told me.

He learned about all kinds of planes inside the museum, too. There were several planes/helicopters that made special records, like going around the whole world, which begs the question, "Why do you need to fly around the world without stopping or refueling?" I guess if there are records to make, people will make them. This one plane looked like it hardly had enough room for one person, but there were two, and they flew it all the way around the world. They were engaged before they took off, and after the 9 day nonstop flight, they decided to call it off.
And an obligatory shot to make you smile:

2 Months

Yesterday was Wade's 2 month mark. To celebrate he had to go to the doctor today to get three shots. He was a champ, only crying for a few seconds (before promptly falling asleep). He is now 12 lbs. 7 oz. (75th percentile) and 24.5 in. (95th percentile). He is growing so fast!Isn't this so sad! He almost made me cry, I just hope he doesn't hate me now!

Happy Birthday Jeff

Happy Birthday to our nephew Jeffrey, who is turning 6 today!

March Madness

Wade is now about at the 2 month mark. They always say those are the hardest months. We've got him here as pretty much the happiest he's ever been in his life. Luckily, to get to this point, he just needed a good bath, a clean diaper, and a full tummy. He sure is a joy to have around.

Rolling Over

Wade learned how to roll over last week. We finally got it on video!

His other favorite things right now are playing with his tongue, watching the mobile in his crib and playing with his toys in his bouncer. We can't believe how FAST he is growing!

Family Portrait

This is our first family picture. When Wade can hold his head up, we'll get some better ones.

So Strong

So I know our blog is turning into an "all about the baby" blog, but it's the best way we have to keep our families in the loop. This video is for them so they can see how strong our little guy is getting.

One Month Old

As kind of a one month-birthday present, I let Wade sleep in my spot, and I took the crib.

Wade has really enjoyed having his Grandma out to visit him for the past week. He has been a great little boy.

To avoid being bullied or intimidated, he put on his bear suit.

He's had a great time with his Grandma this last week, so watch out for pictures with her once we upload them from the camera.

He was born January 9, so he's a little more than a month old. He can be reached at littlewade@gmail.com. I got my first email address when I was in middle school (I can't remember the address, but I still remember the password); I didn't want Wade to have to wait that long to enjoy the ease and convenience that most of us are used to.

Weekend Fun

This weekend Wade went to his first basketball game! We made the trek out to the Verizon Center to watch the Jazz beat the Washington Wizards (of course we were cheering for the Jazz). Wade was a champ even with all the noise. We can't believe how good of a baby he is. We are also working our way back up to church. This week we made it to 2 out of 3 hours. Here is a picture of Wade and his dad all ready in their church clothes.

No More Work

So I am officially done with work, or at least the workplace. This past Saturday Phil and I went to the holiday party my office holds every year. We showed Wade off (of course everyone thought he was adorable) and I said goodbye to everyone. This is a picture of me and my friend Ashley from work. I'll miss working with her, but I can't say I'll miss much else about the job.

I am still getting used to my new full-time mommy job. So far I have learned to always keep a burp cloth close to Wade as he spits up all the time. He is still a great little boy and we love having him! Here are some 3 week old pictures.

Back to Work

I'm finally back at work after a two and a half week hiatus. Remaining productive, however, I have two items to review.

Prison Break, Season 2.
3 out of 5 stars. I was pleased with the first season. The second season had the distinct feeling of a show being drawn out for profit purposes. The story was no longer trying to get out of prison but how can we draw this out a few more episodes. I will definitely not be watching the third season.

Friday Night Lights, Season 1.
4 out of 5 stars. This was a good show to watch with Jen. She enjoyed the drama part of the show, I enjoyed the football part of the show. I docked it a star for all the adult themes they were portraying as normal for high schoolers. Jen said she didn't think that was realistic.

Clean

While Charlotte graduated to taking baths in a bathtub, Wade graduated from sponge baths to mini-baths.
Thanks to Mom for keeping him modest.

He's been awake a whole lot more lately. His Dad has also been sleeping through the night. He's very excited for his Grandma to come see him at the beginning of February.

One Week Old

Wade is now one week old. Many of you have asked for updated pictures, so here they are. As you may be able to tell from some of the pictures, Wade has had some pretty bad jaundice. We have had to keep him on a "bili-blanket" for a while, but it seems to be helping and he should be back in shape in no time. Other than the jaundice, he is a great baby. He is already back up to his birth weight and he is a great little eater and sleeper (not to mention burper, a trait both his parents happily passed on to him).

Hanging out with his Aunt Emily and Cousin Logan.

These little guys are already great buddies.

We really appreciated all the help from Grandma Anderson and Emily who came out. We already miss having them here! Thanks for everything!!

Day 2 with Wade

We've enrolled Wade in Life Training Camp here. He's been doing pretty well on the core competencies, such as:
Sleeping

Back seat driving

Entertaining friends

Entertaining Family

He's been doing pretty well, but he still complains a fair amount

Wade Richard Broadbent

Wade Richard Broadbent, born 1/9/08, 8 lbs 6 ounces.

Mom is doing fine. Dad is doing better. The pediatrician just stopped in and reports he's a healthy baby. The hospital is directly adjacent to our apartment complex, so when we came down here, we got in the car and drove to the end of the parking lot (approximately 20-30 parking spaces) and walked across the street to check in. Looks like the countless times of listening hospital helicopters landing and ambulance sirens
have finally paid off by saving us 20 bucks on parking. More pictures to come.

Christmas 2007

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Here are a few pictures of our small Christmas together. Most of the presents were for Wade. He really got hooked up! Now if only he would come to enjoy them. I think our favorite present this year was our new Dance Dance Revolution game for our Wii...so much fun!

Christmas time is here...

We felt a bit awkward going all the way to President Bush's house to see his tree, and not stopping in to leave a present or cookies or anything, but he did have a fire going for us to warm up by.

We'll be spending Christmas together in Virginia this year. We both hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Christmas came early

Christmas came early to our house this year, due t the fact that we can't take any trips home. My parents came out last weekend to take us shopping and to celebrate with us early. The space under our tree is now filled with presents (most of them for little Wade). My mom also helped me put the crib together. We are all ready for baby Wade to come!

And since we were celebrating Christmas, we got to open one present early...
We got a new sound system to go with our new TV. Phil is so excited about it. So if you ever want to watch a movie, come on over and we will hook you up!

A Houston Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Houston with Phil's side of the family. We had just over a week there and it was nice to be able to have so long to relax. We also loved spending time with everyone since we do not get to see them very often. Here are pictures of some of the activities we did while we were there.
We had a rousing game of mini-golf, which Phil won due to his practicing on the Wii.
We took a trip to the Houston Space Center where we got to see where astronauts train, the original Houston command center, and some pretty big space ships.
Grandma Nancy gave me my first crochet lesson. I'm afraid I didn't pick it up very fast, I'm still not sure what "yarn over" means.
And it wouldn't be a complete trip without some go-kart racing.

We ended the trip with the Houston 10k Turkey Trot, which all four brothers ran. They all did surprisingly well considering the temperature was only in the 40's. Following the race we had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks to the Broadbent's for giving us a great vacation!

TAG

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player lists 6 little-known facts/habits about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

After debating whether or not to continue this 'game', I decided to acquiesce, partly because things are a bit slow today.

1. I came in third place (bronze medal) in the school spelling bee when I was in 4th grade.
2. I once ran the mile in 5:55* when I was a freshman in High School. (The asterisk is because the girl doing the times sat next to me in algebra)
3. I used to bleach my hair in high school.
4. My best friend swung a mop handle and broke my nose when I was a junior in high school.
5. Accurately predicted the country I would be called to serve as a missionary before I even put my papers in.
6. I went out of my way to get a friend a job at my company, expecting a monetary reward for my efforts, but instead received a duffle bag with the company's name on it.

The 6 people I'm going to tag are: Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Oliver Queen, Barry Allen, Clark Kent, and John Jones. I'm not sure if they have blogs, though.

7 Months

I now look like I'm growing a basketball in my stomach.

Rise and Shout...

The cougars are out!! We finally got to watch a BYU game on TV out here and we were so excited. The game was BYU v. TCU and it was the perfect game to have on as some of our friends are avid TCU fans. Unfortunately for them, BYU won 27-22 (Sorry Shannon and Ezra). Looks like BYU is still undefeated in the conference!
A cake I made for the occasion (note that BYU is on top).
The Group that came to watch the game.
Phil showing off his signed Ty Detmer t-shirt which we think brought us luck.
(I like the fact that dark colors hide my big belly)

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween.

We had our second annual murder mystery dinner. It was quite a treat. The murderer turned out to be Bo-Jo Boarder. He was jealous of his boss, so he knocked him off. It was a hawaiian-themed event, and was aptly called a "Lethal Luau". Hijinks ensued.

We're expecting a visit from Jen's parents, soon. Maybe I'll take her dad to play 18 holes, please use the voting button to show who you think will finish with a better score.
