Weekend at the Lake

My parents were nice enough to take us down to Lake Powell with them this weekend, This is probably my favorite place in the whole world! No worries, just good times.

Wade loved driving the boat and the sea-doo.

We also spent some time relaxing on the shore,

feeding the ducks,

and wakeboarding.

We can't wait to go back next year!

Aunt Amy

My Aunt Amy came to visit me this weekend. Her and Uncle Mark are going to be moving to Texas next weekend, so I gave her a kiss so she would know that she was always welcome to come visit.

Popsicle Mess

A while ago, my wife set up a babysitting arrangement with her sister so that both her and her sister get approximately 1 or 2 'date nights' a month (with their respective husbands, of course). We generally take advantage of being able to go places with no child in tow, like a movie or a nicer dinner, etc.

The real fun comes on the weekends when we're babysitting though, when we get the nephews and niece.

We had the kids over quite a bit when their Mom was at girls camp. We always want to make sure the kids have a good time, so one night we gave them all popsicles to eat outside.

Doesn't that make you cringe? We took his shorts off and hosed him down before we gave him back.

At the beach

While Phil and I were away this weekend, my family took Wade to the Lake and let him play on the beach. This was his first experience with sand and the pictures were great so I thought I'd share.

anniversary

This weekend, Phil and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe we've already been married for 4 years!
We decided a while ago that instead of exchanging gifts, we would rather spend the time together on our anniversary. This year Phil took me to Las Vegas and we stayed here:

He also took me to see this:

It was phenomenal!

I love you baby and I love being married to you! Here's to many more years being married to the best man in the world!

Happy Half Birthday

Wade is now officially 1.5 years old. We'll miss him in sunday school, even though his Mom almost never let me take him to priesthood meeting. Here are some of the things that Wade has already accomplished in his short time with us so far:

Yellowstone

These are some pictures of our Broadbent family reunion in Yellowstone over the 4th of July. We had such a great time!

Proof

Wade is a very clean child, clean in that he hates anything sticky or slimy to be on his hands. When he turned one, I had to force his hands into his cake because he was quite content to just pick the sprinkles off. He also refuses to eat hot dogs, bananas and even cupcakes unless I feed them to him. My family tends to make fun of him for this, so I wanted to post this picture as proof that he will get messy on occasion if given a good enough reason. The reason...fresh out of the oven, ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies!

(Look Em, it's even up his arms!)

Summer is Here

To celebrate the beginning of summer we decided to go to a Bees baseball game for family night. It was a perfect night for a ball game, and we were surprised at how much more exciting the game was than the DC Nationals...although, is that really surprising? We will always love the Nationals, but let's face it, they are terrible.

Wade had his first taste of Cotton Candy, which he loved much to his dad's chagrin.

We went camping up Cottonwood Canyon with Mark and Amy. Phil and Mark spent a good portion of the night being pyromaniacs.

Wade slept better than everyone else, and was a great little heater for his mom!

And who doesn't love homemade strawberry jam made from freshly picked strawberries?

This has definitely been a great start to summer!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the three greatest fathers in my life! They are such great men and I am so thankful for each of their examples.

Look a like

So everyone always says that Wade looks SO much like Phil, but I'm tired of him always getting all the credit. I finally came across some baby pictures of me, which I think proves that Wade has some of me in him too!

Dancing Lessons

Wade has a toy that makes noise that he loves to dance to. I managed to catch him dancing with my beautiful wife.

Then Wade made me take him for a horse back ride.
