Our Easter Surprise

So the Saturday before Easter, we had a great day. Phil got to mow his lawn for the first time with his brand new lawn mower and weed-wacker, and he got it fertilized. We also got our new patio furniture and BBQ put together. Needless to say, we are ready for summer.

We put Wade to bed that night (knowing he had a cough and thinking it was just a chest cold) and finished dying Easter eggs since we were hosting Easter dinner at our house. We had just laid down to go to bed ourselves when Wade woke up crying. I went to check on him and quickly yelled at Phil to come. He was barely breathing in between cries. He was so raspy and sounded like he was hardly getting any air. I knew this wasn't just a chest cold. So at 11:30 pm, we all rush to the ER, completely freaked out, to find out that he has Croup.

Turns out that Croup is the children's version of laryngitis, but because babies airways are so much smaller than adults, it can be pretty serious. They gave him some steroid treatments and watched him for a few hours. He was a champ by the way, he hardly complained and the doctors were impressed with how good he was to take all the treatments. Anyway, they sent us home at around 3 am. Because Croup is contagious for other babies, I didn't take him to church on Sunday so he didn't even get to wear his new Easter outfit. Oh well.

Even with all the bustle, we did manage to have an enjoyable Easter. Wade even managed to find a few Easter eggs that the Easter bunny left for him. He is doing much better now and should be back to normal in a few days.

We hope everyone else's Easter was less eventful than ours!

Kaulana would be jealous of your grill. We have one, but it's not that cool, and he LOOVES to barbecue. I'm so sorry to hear that little Wade didn't have the best Easter. Croup...that really stinks. Hope he feels back to his normal self soon. I also hope you guys are enjoying your new house! How many square feet do you guys have there? And where is it exactly? Are you guys in Bountiful?

That must have been so scary. You'll have to post pics of Wade in his Easter outfit next week. Kids are so good at throwing a curve ball into plans. You just never can know what to expect. We had bleeding, fat lips and falling off beds this weekend, but nothing like your adventures.

Oh I'm so sorry that happened! That is so scary. I hope he is feeling better! We missed easter too because of sickness...isn't it sad to miss holidays? Oh well, as long as every one is getting better! Good luck!

It looks like Wade is feeling good enough to take charge of the barbeque. Where's the Meat?
Croup can be very alarming especially if you have not heard a baby with it before. I am glad that he is feeling better. We will look forward to his modeling his Easter outfit next week.

I can't tell you how jealous I am of the yard and BBQ. Ever since Aubrey and I got married we've been craving our own bbq.
