tonight

Tonight we celebrated, and I'll just leave it at that.

8 months

Another month has already gone by? Instead of a picture this month, I am sharing a video. Sam finally figured out how to inch forward about a week ago. The thing that is so funny about this, is he does it the exact same way Wade did it...for teddy grams and all.

I love watching this little guy figure things out.

Oh, and for the record, he also figured out how to sit up by himself.

my boys

Because everyone keeps saying that Sam is a mini-Wade...

They are definitely brothers though.

in a week

We had a fantastic holiday weekend. We saw a parade and lots of fireworks. We had a fabulous BBQ and loved spending time with friends and family. Unfortunately, I was so busy having fun I didn't take a single picture.

I know....gasp!
(maybe my sister will send me some pics soon...hint, hint)

However, I am trying to be better about taking pictures, so here are a few from the last week I took with my ipod.

Enjoying popsicles with friends
Riding the carousel at the zoo
Enjoying Daddy's new hammock
My cute Sam
We have played with cars a lot lately

family night

For family night last night, we decided to try out our new fire pit by introducing Wade to s'mores. It was one of the best and stickiest nights so far this summer.

the start of summer

Despite the fact we had a short Spring, Summer is here and we are soaking in the sun and the warmth and loving being outside.
Wade took swimming lessons a week ago and did so great. He loves blowing bubbles in the water and I have barely been able to keep him out of the pool since.

My little baby is finally getting some rolls on him and I must admit, I love them. Is it just me, or does this little guy suddenly look so much like his daddy (and just like his brother)?

Sam is now sitting up by himself and rolling like a pro. No crawling yet, but I'm not complaining. And this kid LOVES to eat! Any time we sit down to eat he whines if he is not included, even if I just fed him. He'll tolerate baby food, but much prefers whatever we are eating. He generally looks just like he does in this picture, so happy to be a part of things.

It's what fun is!

Phil's work, Overstock.com, rented out Lagoon (a local amusement park) on Friday for it's employees. Since we didn't have to pay to go, we thought we would take the family and take advantage of a fun day together.

We rode the carousel

and the train

and the airplanes

and the boats

and much more...

Phil even rode the sky coaster...a giant swing that drops you 143 feet at about 80 mph. He' nuts!

Thanks Overstock for providing a great day!

brothers

These two little guys absolutely adore each other. Sam always greets Wade with a huge grin in the mornings and Wade always gives Sam a big hug and kiss before he goes to bed.

Wade wanted to help me this morning so I let him feed Sam a bottle, and this picture just made me happy.

remodel

When we bought our house a little over 2 years ago, the one thing I could not stand about it was the kitchen counters. If you remember, they were sage green formica...not very pretty. (I didn't even take a before picture because I don't really want to remember them). Well, they are gone and I have a lovely new kitchen in it's place. I absolutely love the way it turned out.

Now, where is your favorite place to shop for decor/accessories so I can add some color to my new fabulous room?

Reunion

We spent a few days down near San Antonio for the Broadbent family reunion. I was so busy enjoying myself, that I completely forgot to take pictures. Here are a few of my favorite pics (stolen from my sisters-in-law) from our trip.

We saw the Alamo. It will be remembered.

Sam enjoyed being held by everyone.

Wade enjoyed spraying everyone with the hose.

He also got to feed some goats.

And we all enjoyed spending some time in the pool.

Not pictured is all the time we enjoyed sitting around visiting and catching up with all our family we don't get to see often enough, but who we adore.

Playoff Basketball

Not covered on any of the cable channels or major networks were the playoff games played in Seguin, TX.

Phil and Mark took on Steve, H and Jeff (Pete played a little as well).

The other guys are up 2 games to 1. Stay tuned for when we bring the series back to...

my first race

I ran my first 5k (and first race since elementary school) this last weekend as part of the Broadbent family reunion...more pics of that to come later.

My goal was to complete it in 35 minutes, I made it in 32:08. Yeah, I know it's not super fast but I'm still pretty proud of myself. It was harder than I thought it would be, but my cute husband ran with me and kept cheering me on.

I do plan to keep on running, though by no means is a marathon in my future.

My little half-pint is half a year old today! My favorite thing about him right now, as our family will attest to, is he will readily grin at anyone who smiles at him.

superheroes

Wade's little cousin, Logan, is obsessed with superheroes. Seriously, the kid could name any superhero you throw at him. So when he comes over to play, naturally he wants to play superheroes. He actually talked Wade into it today. These little guys are the best of buds and I love it.
DSC02872_edited-1

And speaking of superheroes, I ran 2 miles today in just over 20 minutes. Yes, I think that qualifies me as a superhero...at least for today. (I know, I still have to make it to 3 miles and only a week left to do it.)

Easter

The Easter Bunny came to our house this weekend, oh yes he did. And since my sister is in Germany, he brought enough eggs for my niece and nephews, too.

And don't think he forgot Sam, because oh no, he didn't. Sam went to town on his little biscuits and was in baby heaven.

Hope all had a very Happy Easter!

It was a little bright outside, and our 3 year old wasn't in the mood to cooperate...little stinker.

Still love these boys.

5 months

Another month has already disappeared. Sam now rolls over in both directions, and loves to sit up and play with his toys. He still loves that darn fist, which unfortunately comes with lots of drool these days. I still can't get him to eat rice cereal, but he can't get enough sweet potatoes.

I feel slightly sad as I hit another monthly milestone. I just don't have the time to adore Sam the way I did Wade. Time is going SO much faster and he is changing too fast for me to keep up with.

*Sigh*

In other news, Wade is finally potty trained....hooray! And he drinks out of regular cups, so he gets to put a check mark next to his new year's resolutions.

Phil also has me training for a 5k next month, which might not sound like a big deal to most of you, but I don't run. At all. I started last week and made it to the end of the street before I almost puked. I had to laugh at myself today, because when I decided to start running, I thought "no big deal, I used to run 6:30 minute miles." Today I realized that the last time I ran a 6:30 minute mile, I was in 6th grade. Yeah, not that fast anymore. At this point, I'm hoping I survive. And yes, I know it's only a 5k.
