For my Father-in-Law

There is an unwritten rule in the Broadbent family...that is, to be a TRUE Broadbent you must love this fruit:

Do you know what they are? Yup, boysenberries. For those of you who are saying "what in the world is a boysenberry?" it is a mix between a blackberry and a raspberry. Phil grew up eating them and has been so excited to watch them grow in our backyard.

My Father-in-Law has also been consistent in asking how the berries are growing, so I'm sure the pictures will make him a bit jealous (they live in Houston and can't grow them there).
Now, what to make with them...pie, cobbler, jam, ice cream? Hmmm, so many options.

Wow those do look good! What's the difference between boysenberries and blackberries? Your father-in-law isn't the only one jealous of your garden!

Boysenberries are actually considered a variety of blackberry, thought it is a hybrid of a blackberry, a raspberry, and a loganberry. Just looking at those berries makes my mouth water . . .

Thanks for the picture

Love, your father-in-law

So when can I come over for some cobbler? That sounds so good!! What's the big blanket thing behind the plant? Does it help it grow?

Jennie: you are officially a Broadbent now, tis true :).
JAM EM. Best way to enjoy them in a prolonged fashion--best over homemade whole wheat bread toast. Mmmmmm. (We just got back from our source with a jar each of syrup and jam!) They are SOOO good fresh, though....
