I am terrible when it comes to decorating, so I am invoking the help of all those who read this blog to pick out my new curtains.

A Day at the Zoo

Carousel

DSC02003

We spent the morning at the zoo with Wade today. He had a great time running around and exploring his freedom. His favorite animal today was the wild cat (which looks exactly like a regular cat...go figure).

Spring

We spent the day outside today and it was glorious! After yesterday's crazy snow storm, I was so excited to walk outside and see that my crocuses are in bloom. I also cleaned out all of my gardens to get them ready for planting, while Phil fertilized the lawn and washed the cars. Wade just ran and ran, so happy to be outside for a change. We are looking forward to the many more beautiful days to come this season.

Fun in a Box

Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner tonight and Wade really wanted to play with them. So he would take their hand and pull them into this box with him. I'm not sure who had more fun, the Grands or Wade. Either way, who knew a box could be so entertaining!

A little boy's dream

We went to Sear's the other day to get Phil an air compressor. Grandpa came with us and showed Wade a new toy. Thanks Grandpa!

Skiing

On Friday we were able to go skiing up at Park City with Phil's brothers. We haven't had a serious ski day in several years so we were quite sore afterwards, but it was a great day! Perfect weather, perfect snow & perfect company!

Oh no! It's that time...

Don't let this angel face fool you! Wade has officially reached the terrible two's stage. While he can still be a sweet little boy when he wants to, Wade has now figured out how to throw tantrums. Tantrums at the store, at dinner time, at bed time, at church, or just about any other time. Sigh! I was really hoping to skip this phase.

We now go everywhere with the blanket. And not just any blanket...THE blanket. Wade even freaks out if I wash it, because he can't have it. So if you see us out and about with a worn out, dirty blue blanket...try not to laugh too hard!

Lots of fun

Yesterday my sister and I took our kids to the children's museum in Salt Lake. They had so much fun playing with everything they could get their hands on (and not being told no to anything!) Wade was most interested in anything with wheels. Go figure!

My Boys

DSC_0235_edited-2

I love my boys! They make me so happy. And because I love them so much, I have to take a minute to brag about them.

Phil first. Phil is the best husband ever. He works so hard for us and loves us so much. He always compliments my dinners, even if they are terrible. He always takes out the trash, and he never forgets to give me a hug when he gets home from work. This week he earned a big promotion at his job. Congrats baby! We are so proud of you!

And Wade. I just love his little face! I can't ever get enough of those oh-so-kissable cheeks. I took Wade to his 2 year check-up and he is doing great. He is in the 75% percentile for height and weight. Currently his favorite activities include peek-a-boo, opening and closing doors (of all kinds), and playing with anything that has wheels. He is so sweet ALL the time and we just love him.

Wade's 2nd

One year ago, we celebrated having a beautiful baby boy with us for a whole year. This year we got to celebrate having a beautiful baby boy with us for two whole years.

Wade knows how to say, "Choo choo", so Jen wanted to make a train cake.

Wade requested the caboose.

"This looks pretty good."

"Can you guys get me a fork?"

"Nevermind, I got it."

"What's next?"

Happy Birthday Wade

Happy Birthday to our baby boy who we can't believe is 2 today! It's been such a fun two years. We love you bud!

Quiet Book

One of Wade's Christmas presents this year was a quiet book that I made for him. I've been working on this for the last few months, but I like how it turned out. These are just a few of the pages that I made.

If anyone wants to know where I got the ideas (I cannot claim them as my own) you can visit this blog (http://www.quietbook.blogspot.com/). I was able to do this for pretty cheap by raiding my mom's craft supply, so thanks mom!

Any suggestions for a new sewing project?

Christmas in Houston

We had a good time in Houston for Christmas this year. Wade was very excited to spend some time with his Grandma and Grandpa Broadbent. We made it to a park one of the first days we were there (while the weather was still in the joyful 70's).

Wade loves the animals in his books and often will give them loves, so you can imagine his excitement to see some live animals. It was all I could do to hold him back from giving this goose a hug.

Wade with his Grandma and Grandpa.

Playing with Uncle Mark and Aunt Amy. He sure loved all the attention.

This was the only picture we got of Wade actually interested in Christmas.

Most of the time Wade was chasing around his Aunt Katie's kitty.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve

We hope that your homes will be filled with the Spirit of Christ this season! Merry Christmas!

Big Boy

Wade is pretty good at feeding himself with a fork these days. I have been hesitant to let him use a spoon by himself because I don't want to clean up the mess that I know will ensue. However, a few nights ago we had mashed potatoes with dinner and I thought it might be a safe start. As you can see, Wade had a great time although I'm not sure many of the potatoes actually made it into his mouth.

Christmas Traditions

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is putting up the tree (and I'll admit. mine was up before Thanksgiving).

From December 2009
In my family, we had the tradition of collecting a new ornament each year as we were growing up. Then when we get married or move out, we have some ornaments to hang on our own tree. The ornament selected usually corresponded to a major event that happened that year. For example:

This was an ornament we got last year (2008) because we spent Christmas in DisneyWorld.

From December 2009
We bought this ornament in Venice (2007) to represent the year we visited Italy.

From December 2009
This is Wade's new ornament for the year. He LOVES phones and is such a chatterbox when he gets his hands on one. We thought it was fitting.

From December 2009

What are some of your favorite traditions?
