Week 1
To celebrate Sam being with us for a week, Wade decided to get an eye and ear infection...so much fun. Luckily, he is taking it like a champ and doesn't even mind that I make him wash his hands every 10 minutes. He absolutely loves his little brother, usually asking to see him first thing in the morning.
Sam has been an angel, making it pretty easy for me to take care to two kids...for now anyway.
Introducing...
Nov. 9 9 am: 38 week check-up; at a 2 1/2; doctor stripped membranes
Nov. 10 2:30 am: I wake up to contractions 8 minutes apart
Nov. 10 4 am: Contractions are 5 minutes apart and I wake Phil up to get ready
Nov. 10 6 am: I call my mom to come stay with Wade so we can head to the hospital
Nov. 10 8:30 am: At a 4 and finally admitted to the hospital; contractions still aren't too bad at this point
Nov. 10 9 am: My doctor breaks my water and contractions immediately get MUCH worse
Nov. 10 somewhere between 9 and 10 am (I am delerious with pain and cannot be held accountable for the time): Get epidural and the doc tries to figure out how much I need; I think I am going to die, literally; 3 doses later he finally gets it right (5 minutes before I start pushing)
Nov. 10 10:39 am: Sam has arrived and is perfectly healthy and I am so relieved!
Nov. 11 around 6 am: that 3 doses of anesthesia finally wear off and I can feel my toes again!
My Little Brother
A Lovely Day
I wanted to get out and do something fun with Wade today while the weather was still nice, and also to give him some much needed attention before baby brother comes. So we spent the afternoon at the park and it was lovely.

I love watching Wade with his daddy. They are such good buds. Wade wasn't too fond of the swings though and begged his daddy to take him home so they could watch football together. How could we refuse such a request?
Halloween
We had a few set backs on Halloween night (Saturday for us), but we still managed to get out and have some fun. Wade ran around saying "Yee-Haw" fully getting into his character. He was also quite enthused by all the pumpkins and the lights inside.
Wade requested we make a Mickey Mouse pumpkin this year and we were happy to oblige.

Hope everyone had a spooktacular Halloween!

Sneak Peak
Wade got to wear his costume to school today...and he actually kept it on. More pics to come in a few days...
Introducing...
No, it's not our baby. Still 5-6 weeks to go on that one.
I wanted to officially introduce Jackson, our dog. We've pretty much made him a permanent part of our family, and Wade just loves him. We like him too...most of the time. He's a German Short-haired Pointer and he's still a puppy so he likes to dig and chew, which we don't like. But we are working with him. Mostly he's a good dog and Wade loves having a buddy to play with.
Frosty
Phil is out of town for a few days, and I haven't yet had time to go to the grocery store, so today I treated Wade and myself to lunch at Wendy's. This is Wade's first experience with a frosty...I can't tell if he likes it or not. He even ventured to dip his french fries in it, which I by the way did NOT teach him. Gotta love it!
Pregnancy
Let's take a journey back in time 3 years....

This was me. Totally happy to be pregnant and loving every little change that happened. I always new exactly how many weeks along I was, and I read several baby books in preparation for the big day. I didn't even care that people stared at my watermelon belly.
Now, fastforward to present day....

Enough said. And I still have 2 more months to go...

Joy School
Wade is in a joy school this year with some friends in our neighborhood. We are so excited for him to have some more interaction with kids his age and hope it will help him learn to talk better. As you can tell, he was pretty excited to go and pretty upset to come home (hence the pouty face in the second picture). We are looking forward to a fun year!
Wade's Weekend
My Mom and Dad took me down to Lake Powell with my Grandma and Grandpa. I'm always super excited to get onto my Grandpa's big boat.
The water this weekend has been amazing. Not too cold.
In fact, I love jumping off the boat to my Dad. He always gets me excited by saying, "1....", but I mess with him by saying "3, 2", instead of "2, 3".
My Dad let me drive the seadoo, but I think that's just because it was on a bunch of sand and couldn't go anywhere.
This is my Dad wakeboarding. Maybe he'll teach me to do that when he gets a little older.

For my Father-in-Law
There is an unwritten rule in the Broadbent family...that is, to be a TRUE Broadbent you must love this fruit:

Do you know what they are? Yup, boysenberries. For those of you who are saying "what in the world is a boysenberry?" it is a mix between a blackberry and a raspberry. Phil grew up eating them and has been so excited to watch them grow in our backyard.

My Father-in-Law has also been consistent in asking how the berries are growing, so I'm sure the pictures will make him a bit jealous (they live in Houston and can't grow them there).
Now, what to make with them...pie, cobbler, jam, ice cream? Hmmm, so many options.
How to make a happy husband
*Note: While completing this process you must be sure to use every bowl and pot in the kitchen. You must also admire the new faucet your husband so expertly installed for you that will make doing dishes so much easier, and remember to thank him again later.
And finally, you must remember to enjoy the moment when your husband comes home and smiles as he takes a bite of fresh strawberry jam on homemade bread.
It's a...
I will admit, I was surprised. This pregnancy has been so different from the first and everyone thought I would be having a girl this time round. But we are thrilled! We are excited for Wade to have a little brother to play with and to welcome another little boy into our family.
(Oh, and my due date got moved up 3 days!)
The month of May...
Our trip to Hawaii
We spent the last week in Kauai to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary (which is coming up this July). It was incredible....such a beautiful place! We were so lucky to be able to go and a special thanks to Grandma Ann who entertained Wade while we were gone.

Just one of the beautiful beaches

And just two of the amazing waterfalls (you may recognize the one on the right from Jurassic Park).

Views of the Napali Coast (courtesy of the helicopter ride we took).

It was a great getaway, and I loved sharing it with my honey-honey! Hope we made you all just a little jealous.
